A finales del pasado mes de marzo se concedieron los Asian film Awards, premios creados en el marco del Hong Kong Film Festival, y promovidos por algunos de los festivales más importantes de Asia como el Tokyo International Film Festival o el Busan International Film Festival, en muy poco tiempo se han convertido en un referente dentro de la producción cinematográfica asiática. Con un listado de premiados muy repartido, exceptuando los diversos galardones técnicos para la china Legend of the Demon Cat, la ganadora a Mejor Película fue Youth, mientras que el premio a Mejor Director se lo llevó el japones Yuya Ishii por The Tokyo Night Sky Is Always the Densest Shade of Blue.
